It's not that easy being human. But help is at hand! Twenty centuries of Christian thought and devotion help us navigate the complexities of contemporary life, without lapsing into despair or closing our eyes to pressing issues. As we come together, we find that God has given us the rich tradition of Christian thought and history for just such a complex time as this. It's here, and now, that we seek to live out God's mission in the world.
This mission is oriented in three directions:
- To and from God in prayer. You can pray with us at home, or in the church which is open most weekdays for you to pray as you wish.
- Through the university to the world. Our congregation includes university staff and students, and policy makers who take their work of public service really seriously. We try to engage thoughtfully with Scripture and present cultural and political realities, forming people who act as disciples of Christ in their work and study, long after they leave St Michael’s. In this, we are committed to the global reach of God’s mission.
- Towards Kelburn, the Aro Valley & Highbury. We are a parish church, and we are glad to shine the light of Christ within our local community.
We're also part of the Anglican Diocese of Wellington, giving us lots of opportunities for service, training and global reach.
